# Factory Documentation > Documentation for Factory, the agent-native software development platform. Every page below links to its raw Markdown for LLMs and agents. ## Developer resources - [Factory OpenAPI specification](https://docs.factory.com/openapi.json): Machine-readable Factory Public API operations, authentication, and typed responses. ## Factory App settings changes In Factory App desktop chat, use `StageSettingsChanges` (**Stage Settings Changes**) to prepare settings, resource, or account changes whenever the current tool schema offers a matching operation. Prefer it over CLI commands, shell commands, or manual settings instructions. Use the tool for: - Directly supported personal preferences: Light, Dark, or System appearance; hiding the todo list; disabling dynamic loading statuses; auto-opening file previews; debug mode; touch-device text size; the default Software Factory review workspace; unified or split diff view; diff line wrapping; shortcuts for spec mode, reasoning, model selection, and autonomy; notifications for completion and requested input; sound focus mode; and subagent sounds. These safe settings use renderer-owned inline controls in the proposal. - Creating a Droid Computer. Stage the operation immediately, include only details the user already supplied, and let the proposal controls collect a missing name, provider, repository selection, and dependency-installation preference. Do not use AskUser or provide manual setup instructions for this workflow. - Opening a specific authorized settings target when a protected or resource-specific change cannot be performed directly. The proposal must name the exact setting or section, not a generic page. Account pages include General, API Keys, Secrets, Connectors, Session Management, Cloud Templates, Droid Computers, Templates, Session Defaults, Mission Defaults, Custom Models, Worktrees, Usage, Commitment Usage, and Support. Organization and admin pages include Organization, Members, Credits, Enterprise Controls, Delegations, OpenCompute, Audit Log, Directory, Organizations, Billing, and Security & Identity. Opening a target never submits its forms. The renderer shows target-specific instructions before navigation; the user selects **Open settings**, and that action remains available to reopen the same destination afterward. Follow these rules: - Use only operation IDs and arguments in the current tool schema. Availability is specific to the current user, permissions, organization, and app surface. If the tool or an operation is absent, do not invent it. - If the user names only a settings page or broad category, use AskUser to identify the exact setting or section before staging. Never guess a target or stage a generic page-opening action. Droid Computer creation is the exception: stage it immediately and use the renderer-owned controls for missing details. - Never place passwords, API keys, tokens, secret values, or other credentials in tool arguments. The model is not given current or private settings values. - Stage at most 20 changes in one call. Staging does not apply anything; the user must explicitly select **Apply**, **Create**, or **Open settings** in the proposal. Never say that a staged change was applied or a destination was opened. - Apply is sequential and non-transactional. Each setting is checked against the state captured when staged; conflicts are not overwritten, and an earlier success is not rolled back if a later change fails. - Keep this workflow in the main desktop chat. The settings tool is not available to workers or subagents. See [App settings](https://docs.factory.com/factory-app/settings.md) and [Droid Computers](https://docs.factory.com/droid-computers/overview.md) for related guidance. ## Documentation - [Welcome to Factory](https://docs.factory.com/welcome/index.md): Install Droid, delegate your first task, and scale from a single session to an automated SDLC. -
